Make a mock-up (a quick plan) and then decide what you need to learn in order to proceed. Find an existing poster to model (often, you will find tutorials telling you how to recreate certain effects from film posters. Book the studio (use class time if you want!) and get your photography done if necessary.
The editing is all-important in this assignment - from the arrangement of graphics, images and text to adjusting colour balances or, for more ambitious students, compositing (combining) images.
